Play Therapy at Athena

"Instead of raising children who turn out okay despite their childhood, lets raise children who turn out extraordinary because of their childhood" - L.R Knost.

Children express themselves and their experiences through play. This is an unconscious way for them to process emotions and feelings for which they do not yet have the language. Through play they can act out their feelings of joy and happiness.
Play Therapy can provide an outlet for a child to express themselves through play safely and can support parents on the care of their child.

Parental Support

"We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future." Franklin D. Roosevelt

Parenting children can be difficult at times and as parents we bring our own experience of being parented into our relationships with our own children. Awareness of this gives us the opportunity to consider what was helpful and what might have impacted negatively. We can then choose to do the same as our parents or something different. Awareness is the starting point. This is not about blaming its about acknowledging and making choices as adults and parents.Therapy can help provide support, validation and empowerment to parents.
